Certified Handlers Training Certificate (Class 6)

Ensure your knowledge as a Certified Handler is up to date with the latest regulations and requirements relating to Acutely Toxic Substances (6.1A and 6.1B) Parts 4.3 and 4.5 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

This course builds upon the participant’s existing practical knowledge and experience to become or renew a Certified Handler. This includes all new regulations and industry developments.

Section 4.1 of The Regulations states that only a Certified Handler handles HSNO class 6.1B. Section 206 of the HSWA states that a PCBU must not direct or allow a worker to carry out work, nor can a Person carry out such work if regulations require the work to be carried out by a person who is authorised (e.g., Certified Handler). Breaches of Section 206 can lead to fines:

  • for an individual, up to $20,000

  • for any other person, up to $100,000 (PCBU or Officer)

Competent Person Training

According to WorkSafe:

  • Everyone who works with, or around hazardous substances must have the knowledge and practical experience to do so safely.

  • The PCBU must ensure workers know of the hazardous substances in their work area and the dangers they pose and get the training and supervision necessary to work safely with and around them.
